Her Story

About Trisha

I started my career in an unexpected way. Out of high school, I went to a trade school to be a production artist and got my degree. While doing that, I was working in catering as a catering manager. I found myself in the right place at the right time when the owner of a hotel company approached me, asking if I'd ever considered sales. I never had at the moment, and that changed the trajectory of my entire career path. I realized that being a set designer in the film industry was not really going to pan out for me, so I moved into hotels and have been in the hospitality industry ever since. I've been on all areas of the industry and tried to be a part of every part of the industry to really grasp what sales is in hospitality. I love that I've made those moves to get me to where I am today. At the end of the day, it's the relationship building with meeting new clients, continuing with clients that I've had for years and years, and being able to have them move with me where I move in my career and continue to work with me just based on those relationships. That's the most gratitude that I get out of my job.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Trisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just always trying to better myself. When I find myself in a position that I am not finding personal growth, I figure out what that next move looks for me, and I take it. Sometimes it's scary, but sometimes that's what needs to push you to achieve that next move in your life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to make sure that when you're in a room, it's not who you know, but it's who knows you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Sometimes when you get a little bit higher up into the industry, you're not looked at from an executive level. Going back to my mentioning about having that trust and building those relationships, I think this industry is so vast, but to always remember that it's a very, very small industry, where you never know who you're going to be working with, working for, or having work for you someday. Build that level of trust as your own personal brand.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now in my industry is the fact that there is no certainty of travel. Travel as a whole is so temperamental right now with the economy and everything going on, so I'm just utilizing the tools that are readily available to stay ahead of the constant change that's evolving at this moment in time.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think just making sure that there's a level of trust and a level of having that work-life balance to be a successful mom alongside with a successful career, and feeling like they both can run at the same time effectively.
