Her Story

About Trixie

Trixie Ford is a Customer Advocacy Manager at Wayfair, where she has built a career spanning nearly a decade within the furniture industry. Her expertise centers on resolving complex issues that impact team workflow and efficiency, as well as overseeing product recall communications to keep customers informed and protected. Prior to her time at Wayfair, Trixie's professional path included work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and training in phlebotomy, experiences that helped shape her hands-on, people-first approach to problem-solving. Though her formal education includes some college coursework, she often credits much of her growth to real-world experience, describing her training ground as the "School of Very Hard Knocks."

Trixie's success is rooted in gratitude and reciprocity. She points directly to the opportunity Wayfair extended her as the foundation of her career, and that sense of appreciation continues to drive her commitment to giving back through hard work and dedication. Her guiding philosophy emphasizes maintaining a strong, consistent professional brand and treating everyone, regardless of title or seniority, as approachable equals. She encourages other women entering the workforce to advocate for themselves, pursue their ambitions boldly, and take initiative rather than waiting for others to remove obstacles on their behalf.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Trixie is deeply committed to community and service. She supports domestic violence awareness programs, regularly donates blood, and champions second-chance employment opportunities for individuals with criminal records. At the core of her personal and professional values is a dedication to lifting up those around her, believing that true fulfillment comes not from personal gain, but from helping others succeed alongside her.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Trixie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the opportunity Wayfair gave me. I can't speak to whether other companies would have given me the same chance, but I know that opportunity shaped who I am professionally. Because of it, I've made it a priority to give back as much as I can to a company that believed in me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was to always be mindful of how I present myself so that I don't come across as harsh, and to keep my professional brand in mind at all times. When you consistently show the people around you what your professional brand stands for, you earn respect and open doors for yourself. How you carry yourself directly shapes how leadership perceives and respects you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know how to communicate professionally when the moment calls for it, but never forget that the people in leadership, management, or even the CEO's chair are still just people. Follow your dreams, and don't limit yourself to only speaking with those at your own level. If you always rely on your manager to clear roadblocks for you, you lose the chance to be seen and to understand your own worth. Get out there, show what you're capable of, and prove that you can get things done just as well, if not better and faster, than anyone else.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field is finding a position where I can truly shine and demonstrate my full potential. Many available opportunities don't align with my particular skill set, and others require relocating to cities like Boston. I'm a country girl at heart, and I intend to stay that way rather than trade my lifestyle for a city-based opportunity.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Supporting the people around me matters most to me, both at work and in my personal life, because those same people support me through difficult times. When I go above and beyond, I'm not just doing it for myself — I'm doing it for others, since I genuinely prefer helping people over focusing solely on my own needs.
