Her Story
About Twynette
My journey started from the school of hard knocks - this was actually part of my life coming up. Being raised in Fort Worth, I didn't really know my worth, didn't know I had a purpose, and didn't know I had a gift. I'm a survivor and thriver of domestic violence abuse, and that became the purpose for what I do now. I overcame that and raised 5 kids as a single mother. In 2020, God let me know that I was always a pearl in the making, and I realized I had worth and value and really do matter. I've been doing this work for 30 years, and it became an official nonprofit 5 years ago. I work with individuals, men, women, and children - those who are homeless, veterans who've been displaced, domestic violence abuse victims, re-entry individuals who are incarcerated or have been released, and displaced McKinney and Vento students and their families. We assist with housing, utility assistance, and resources through our Path to Purpose program, which provides professional development, mentoring, resume building, and job placement connections. I mentor in Carswell Federal Prison with women and at the Tarrant County Jail downtown Fort Worth with 18 females. I was comfortable behind the scenes for years, helping in the shelters with single moms and lifting them up because I know I made it. I just got an LLC last month for my transitional home, which is my for-profit business.

01What do you attribute your success to?
First of all, the most important thing would be my faith in God. I have a strong faith. And the perseverance - when circumstances do come, I just don't quit.

Just keep going and don't give up.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The biggest challenge is the funding. As for opportunities, I've got plenty of opportunities - that's not a challenge. I'm a go-getter.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in my work and personal life are integrity, honesty, being authentic, and not judging. Having morals and ethics. And meeting the individual where they are, without judging them.
