About Tykia

I currently work for the Boys and Girls Club, where I've been for 2 years in senior management food services. My journey in food service began in my youth, starting with busing, dishwashing, serving, and bartending, and I worked my way up through front of the house management and senior management, eventually operating entire restaurants. I've recently transitioned into program management of food operations, where I build out nutrition programs and nutrition curriculums for high schoolers. I've always had a passion for food and it's been a lifelong dream of mine to have my own restaurant. I'm deeply interested in food quality, mixology because I bartend as well, hospitality, and creating really good experiences for people to come together and share with each other. I'm also a board member for Tandy Family Farms, an agricultural nonprofit that serves the community by helping build gardens in San Leandro. We've opened 15 garden beds, and this year our goal is to open 50 more gardens to help build food sustainability, reduce food scarcity, and build community.
