Her Interview

Ten minutes with Uma

01What do you attribute your success to?

The drive comes from seeing gender-biased decisions throughout my 16-17 year career, like doubts about women handling tough challenges or promotions. This pushes me to prove that merit matters over hierarchy, that women can manage everything at home and work and make strong decisions. I draw energy from networking with C-suite women who have achieved despite similar biases, and I want to set an example to break norms and build confidence that women are equally capable.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just don't listen to the voices of society. If you are really passionate to do something, step in and make your own pathway, look for opportunities, and never hesitate to take a step forward and grow. Never stop learning if you're passionate to achieve something, whether you're a teenager, a young woman becoming financially independent, or a mom. I want to be that voice to help the next generation grow and not feel held back by any factor.
