About Ursula
Ursula Douglas serves as Director of Operations for the Healthcare Business Women's Association Houston, Texas chapter, a global nonprofit focused on mentorship, leadership development, and acceleration. With 14 years of experience in healthcare, she started in the animal health pharmaceutical industry, transitioned to medical technology sales at Medtronic working in minimally invasive specialties, pursued independent consulting on marketing and referral development pathways, engaged in public health and health equity initiatives including co-chairing a Rural Health Equity Initiative through Morehouse School of Medicine and work with Fulton County Board of Health, returned to Medtronic as regional program manager supporting executives and later in market development for a new therapy, and approximately a year and a half ago founded Sprout Consulting Group to focus on strategy and operations, program development, and stakeholder management for healthcare organizations seeking equitable access to care and market development of new therapies. Douglas holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications focused in public relations, which informs her work in maximizing visibility and awareness for client organizations. She attributes her success to strong faith, trusting her gut, and the breadth and integration of her multidimensional journey across multiple lanes in the industry, which enables her to see opportunities and present non-obvious solutions. Notable achievements include supporting the development of Medtronic's first direct-to-patient activation at Super Bowl LIX and a similar initiative at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament, efforts that became standardized year-over-year programs.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ursula
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have really strong faith and I trust my gut. I've worked in so many different lanes within this industry that I think I'm always taking stock of what's working and what's not. If I feel the need to pivot or see an opportunity to pivot and it makes sense, I'm gonna go for it. All that journey has created a lot of breadth and the integration of it all is the root of the way I'm able to work now with Sprout. I've become very multidimensional in the way that I work and that's actually been the asset.
