Her Story
About Vaishnavi
I work in data engineering at the intersection of technology and healthcare, and I've been in this field for about 8 years. I've always worked in healthcare, and I'm currently with my company for the past 3 years. My work is a lot more into the technical side plus healthcare, but I also love to write articles - I am an author with a few healthcare magazines where I share my ideas and how my ideas with technology help the care delivery and healthcare today. Apart from my work, I am also committed to mentorship and innovation. Last year I published a book called 'Data to Decisions: Powering Efficiency in Business and Healthcare.' I serve as a mentor and judge with Technovation, which supports girls and women globally in building startups and setting their foot in the startup world. In 2025, I was also involved in evaluating high-impact startups with Mass Challenge in Boston. I'm really passionate about not just being in the room, but helping more people confidently walk into that room.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Vaishnavi
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my sister and my husband. They have always motivated me in everything that I have done.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I remember I was in some debate competition, and I was put out in the first round, but then one of my mentors really told me that whatever you think, you have to just say it out loud, and then make sure you're being heard. That advice has stayed with me throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
No matter where you come from, no matter how big or small your dream is, you just have to get started and don't think twice.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now, I feel that when I started, I faced this challenge of not getting a correct mentor or a right mentor. When I stepped into this career, I did not find a lot of people working in the intersection of healthcare and technology. I feel that right now, as AI is coming into picture and all the tech fields are ahead, the healthcare field is not that ahead as compared to the tech field. So I feel that mentorship in healthcare and technology is really important, and sometimes there is a lack of those expertise. And that's where I come in, and that's where my mentorship comes in.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I feel whoever is stepping into the career, I don't want to shed their ideas. Whatever is coming from them, every word or every thought can be an opportunity, and then being loyal to your work is definitely important. And then, I would say if you have right knowledge, definitely you can go ahead and help others, and then share that knowledge, and then bring others up to the speed.
