Valerie Madden has built a career in creative direction for 360 marketing within the entertainment industry. She began on the agency side in Los Angeles for about seven years before joining NBC Entertainment Marketing as Group Creative Director for ten years, where she led a team and contributed to roughly 350 television titles such as The Office, 30 Rock, Friends, West Wing, Parenthood, Heroes, and Friday Night Lights. After a period working independently, she spent nine years at Amazon during its early expansion, supporting more than 100 shows including Transparent, Fleabag, The Tick, and Good Omens. For the past two and a half years she has focused on consulting as a fractional creative director, guiding agencies and teams on AI-enhanced creative workflows while drawing on her experience with full 360 campaigns spanning trailers, key art, experiential, social, and digital elements. She is currently based in Nashville. Madden is actively involved in professional and nonprofit organizations, having served on the board of OutFest and as VP of Mentorship for Vibrant, an LGBTQ+ entertainment professionals group. She also participated in non-profit work through OutFest and NBCU. Her advice to young professionals emphasizes remaining curious and approaching challenges as a learn-it-all rather than a know-it-all.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always be curious and open to learning. Be a learn-it-all, not a know-it-all. Come from a place of let's figure it all out together rather than I know it all.
