Her Story

About Valentina

I co-own Neon Giant Moving with my husband, a company we fully own and operate in Washington state. My professional background is in business administration, and I worked for 7 or 8 years in the wellness industry before moving to the U.S. in 2023 and entering the moving industry. While it was honestly by default at first, since my husband was already in the moving industry, I didn't feel very connected until we started Neon Giant, which is totally ours. In my role, I handle marketing, finance, and public relations. My key responsibilities include developing a referral network to get outside leads, building our community on social media, developing the company culture, and managing all the KPIs to make sure we are a growing and financially healthy company. I work behind the scenes while my husband and our partner Jeff are the face of the company and handle operations. One of my most notable achievements was leading our recent rebrand in January of this year, which involved a name change, new logo, and developing new core values. Right now, our biggest challenge is scaling the company - we currently have one location and want to expand to a bigger area like Seattle, which requires developing sustainable systems that allow us to grow.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Valentina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a growth mindset and I keep learning. Changing from industries was hard because I was used to talking about longevity in the wellness industry, and here in the moving industry I was learning while also building a legacy for my family. I would say the growth mentality is key - always be humble and keep learning, because everything is changing so fast with AI, but the fundamentals of business are the same whether it's in Colombia, United States, Germany, or whatever. It's about always being willing to upgrade your standards and hold yourself to higher standards.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is to always be humble and remember to be flexible. It's good to have goals and be goal-oriented, but if you're not flexible, you can break. In business and in career, you always need to keep in mind that there are different paths to achieve your goals, and if things change, you need to be flexible in order to achieve them.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is scaling the company. Right now we have one location, so we want to scale the company and expand to a bigger area like Seattle. For scaling the company, one of the challenges is developing sustainable systems that allow us to grow as a company. That's the biggest challenge we have. Minor ones are, since we did the rebrand, how do we make people remember that we are now Neon Giant, that we are the same crew but with a different name. But basically, the biggest one is scaling the company with sustainable systems.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For work, we have five core values that spell out GIANT, which is our company name: grit, initiative, attitude, no excuses, and teachable. But for me personally, as a human being, discipline and integrity are very important, along with honesty. And what I mentioned before - a growth mindset. Always be willing to upgrade your standards and hold yourself to higher standards.
