Her Interview
Ten minutes with Valerie
01What do you attribute your success to?
My motivation just to keep getting better each day, and that each day brings new opportunities for you to grow and become a better version of you, of the person you were yesterday. I feel like I'm successful when I've become when I did something that challenged myself from yesterday, or I'm one step better than I was yesterday.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't ever let the journey stop. If you're scared to make a change, that's a good thing, because change can be scary, but it can also be so exciting, and can open so many new doors for you. Do it scared.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If an opportunity lands on your lap and you aren't sure to take it, take it, stay motivated, stay passionate. But also stay understanding of others that you're working alongside, and being open to different perspectives. Be open-minded and take the leap. Challenge yourself, and say yes.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The food and beverage, dairy, deli, and bakery industries are evolving rapidly, creating exciting opportunities for innovation and new products. The biggest challenge is keeping up with the pace of change, as ideas can quickly be developed and launched by competitors. Success requires staying agile, creative, and ahead of emerging trends.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Teamwork, empathy, and positivity are the values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I believe in understanding and respecting each person’s individuality, showing grace and genuine care, and approaching challenges with a go-getter attitude and a positive mindset. I’ve found that positivity can make a meaningful difference in any situation.
