Valerie Gerfin has dedicated the past decade to the University of South Carolina, with the last four years serving as Associate Director of Live Productions. In her current role, she collaborates closely with marketing and sales teams to create engaging content while also serving as a producer in the control room on game days. Valerie’s work ensures that every production delivers high-quality, immersive experiences for Gamecock fans across a variety of sports.

A proud alumna of USC, Valerie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts in 2013, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She furthered her education with a Master’s in Sports and Entertainment Management, blending her technical expertise with strategic insight in sports media. From her college years to now, she remains an active participant at the Sports Video Group College Summit, where she has spoken on her experience in sports broadcasting.

Valerie’s career in sports media began as a production assistant with Gamecock Productions, followed by roles at the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, before returning to USC to grow within the live productions department. Her dedication, creativity, and leadership have made her a respected professional in collegiate sports media, continually advancing the intersection of technology, content, and fan engagement.

I attribute my success to the relationships I have formed over the years. Building strong connections with colleagues, mentors, and collaborators has been central to my growth and achievements in the industry. These relationships have not only provided guidance and support but have also inspired me to strive for excellence in everything I do.

I value being cool under pressure in both my personal and professional life. Staying composed during high-stakes situations allows me to think clearly, make sound decisions, and lead effectively. Maintaining this level of calm helps me manage challenges with confidence and ensures that I can perform at my best no matter the circumstances.
