About Valerie

Valerie Schwartz has been active in the real estate industry since 2021, where she manages a business focused on property management and short-term and mid-term rentals in North Carolina. She began her professional journey as a special education teacher, holding a master's degree in the field along with her teaching certification, and she also brings experience in operations and project management. Motivated by a passion for real estate and a desire for additional income, she joined a program covering property management, fix-and-flips, and the BRR method, advancing to become one of their business coaches before starting her own venture. Today, her areas of specialization include delivering strong customer service, overseeing property management operations, conducting market research to select units suited for short-term or mid-term rentals, and fostering relationships with landlords. In her daily responsibilities, she serves as the primary point of contact for guests to ensure excellent hospitality, coordinates with maintenance vendors and cleaners, and maintains ongoing communication with landlords to support profitability and quarterly growth targets. Valerie attributes her success to the supportive network of close-knit family and friends, many of whom are businesswomen and entrepreneurs who model clarity and decisive action.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Valerie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say the people around me. I have a very strong close-knit family and friends. Most of my friends that I have around me are businesswomen, they're entrepreneurs, they are very boss-like and to the point. They make quick decisions, they're very you know they move with clarity. It really is all about the people that you surround yourself with and so I think that that's a big contribution for my success. It's important when you can easily identify people that you admire. If you surround yourself with those people you can very much see the pathway of how to get to where they are.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I would say this really goes off of the kind of person that I am because I tend to sometimes get analysis paralysis so the advice was progress over perfection. So I've also heard fast is slow and slow is smooth so really making sure that you're intentional while you're continuing in your process versus quickly getting everything done in a disorganized way. And I thought that that was very meaningful to me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would just say to not give up and to prepare for discourages to prepare for the failures. To you know make sure that when these things happen that you are stronger than these failures because they will happen and it's really about being resilient in this business.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The rate of finding homes or landlords that we could add to the portfolio. So there's a process that we take when we evaluate homes that we'd like to move forward with and use for short-term and mid-term rentals. And I think that what I'm realizing is that I may need to expand my team in order to keep up with adding more homes to our repertoire. And you know that typically means interviewing people and spending time identifying qualified professionals that could really help us with our mission statement and move with our perspective that hospitality is very important you know building off of client relationships making sure that you can identify the numbers and units that would work for us in particular.
