Her Interview

Ten minutes with Vanessa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely want to mention SCORE. It's a free mentor site that I have used over the years, it’s a great resource for anyone looking to start a business, attend webinars, learn how to do your own business accounting, etc. They offer business coaches for free. They're a non-profit, so I worked with a mentor for X amount of years to help me reach success with the podcast. But on a personal scale, I would say I contribute my success to doing what 99.9% of other people were too scared to do, to think completely out of the box, and do something special on the podcast that would help me stand out against all competitors. That ended up being the street interviews I conducted out in Boston, which is a big reason why I stood out against others when it came to getting the position at American Bitcoin. I also contribute a large part of my success to never quitting, even in extreme adversity. I like to say those who make it through immense adversity, are meant for immense prosperity.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Two great things: 1 was the encouragement to keep moving forward on crypto even when society didn’t completely believe or understand it yet. I traveled a path not frequently followed, I trusted my gut, which led to a lot of opportunities now that this industry is evolving and accepted. 2 was actually advice from my mentor at SCORE when I was running the podcast, and he encouraged me to take this opportunity with American Bitcoin. It was the opportunity to pursue what I was doing on the podcast, but now on a much larger scale. And I would love to say that I am very happy with my decision, and that this was 100% the right choice for me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say don't be afraid to take the path less traveled. Don’t listen to those who don’t understand it yet. Educate people where you can. I would say that far and few women are in this industry, and we need more women in crypto, Web3, in the Bitcoin space. I spent hours just researching on crypto with pure fascination. Anytime I didn’t understand something, I’d just educate myself about it. That built my knowledge and more importantly confidence to take up space in this industry. Be fearless in your pursuit of greatness and go towards an industry that maybe isn't so popular with women, so you can help lead the way for others. This industry also has so many opportunities still being relatively new, so the possibilities here are endless, especially if you are just getting out of college.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the biggest challenge that we face right now is trying to build more trust into the Bitcoin space & awaken America to all the possibilities with digital assets. I would say the biggest opportunity that we have right now is who our Co-Founder is for American Bitcoin. Eric is super passionate about digital assets, more specifically Bitcoin, so just the opportunity to represent his company and create change at this level in America is very honorable & a huge opportunity in raising awareness about the mission at hand.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Kindness is one of the biggest things, especially in the work environment. I want everyone to always feel like they can approach me at work, and I’d never judge anyone if they made a mistake. Honesty, integrity, and helping others feel supported are my main goals at work. I like people to know they can look to me for encouragement or to get a problem solved. For my personal life I’m a huge believer in look good, feel good, do good. Health is true wealth. When you present the best version of yourself every day, you begin to maintain what you already have, and can tackle challenges efficiently. Your confidence increases, and so does your ability to manifest better things into your life. It sets the standard for high achievement every single day.
