Outside of her work in digital media and crypto, Hurley is the founder and president of the Be Fed Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on combating food insecurity through sustainable community gardening. Since launching the organization in 2020, she has overseen the growth of a large-scale community garden project that donates more than 1,000 pounds of fresh produce annually to multiple food banks throughout Massachusetts. Combining her passion for innovation, education, and service, Hurley is committed to building meaningful connections both online and within local communities while helping shape conversations around the future of technology and social impact.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely want to mention SCORE. It's a free mentor site that I have used over the years that is a great resource for people. SCORE, it's just S-C-O-R-E, all caps. They're basically what they do is they offer business coaches for free. They're a non-profit, so I worked with a mentor for X amount of years to help me, you know, definitely help me get here. But on a personal scale, I would say I contribute my success to doing what 99.9% of other people wouldn't do, and that's get out of my comfort zone completely, and do something special on the podcast that would help me stand out against all competitors.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I guess the best career advice I ever received was actually from my partner when I was running the podcast, and he encouraged me to take this opportunity with American Bitcoin. And I would love to say that I am very happy with my decision, and that this was 100% the right choice for me.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say don't be afraid to take the path less traveled. I would say that far and few women are in this industry, and we need more women in crypto, Web3, in the Bitcoin space. I would say knowledge is power, and don't be afraid to reach out and get the resources you need and the knowledge that you need to push this further. Yeah, I guess I would just encourage them to, you know, go into an industry that maybe isn't so popular with women, and make your space known there.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the biggest challenge that we face right now is trying to build more trust into the Bitcoin space. I would say the biggest opportunity that we have right now is who our co-founder is for American Bitcoin. He's a very well-known public figure, so just the opportunity to represent on such a large scale is very honorable.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say kindness. Kindness is one of the biggest things, especially in the work environment. Honesty, integrity, and just confidence, I would say. Confidence and belief in yourself.
