About Vanessa
Academic, research, and education leadership professional with extensive experience spanning graduate student governance, special education research, teaching, media engagement, and educational program development across international and university settings. Currently serving as President of the Graduate and Professional Students Council at the University of Arizona, representing graduate and professional students and leading initiatives focused on student advocacy, engagement, and academic experience enhancement.
Also works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant in Special Education at the University of Arizona, supporting instructional delivery, academic research, and individualized education program development, with a focus on inclusive education practices and student learning support.
Previously served as Assistant Learning Specialist at Drexel University, contributing to student academic support and learning services.
In addition to academic roles, has significant media and leadership experience as TV Host and Consultant for Cantinho da Sissi, producing educational content focused on youth development, civic education, leadership, and social inclusion. Also served as Principal CEO of Cantinho da Sissi Pre-School, leading early childhood education initiatives and program management in Mozambique.
Additional experience includes consultancy work with the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies, contributing to translation and educational program support.
