Her Story

About Vanessa

I started working with art 2 years ago, though I'm actually graduated as a veterinarian in my country, Brazil. Before art, I was working as an office manager for a law office for 6 years, and I was also a model from Ford Models in Brazil and here in Miami for the Green Agency. I love learning new concepts and reinventing myself - I think that's something that people should do, because we're multi-talent, all of us, we just don't explore. The more you look, the more you find within yourself. I got burned out working for the law office because at the end, I was having too many functions and not being valued. I also studied to become a real estate agent and have a license in life and health insurance as an agent as well. I recently opened my company, Local Basel, to represent local artists across the USA. As a humanitarian and an empath, I learned the other side of the art world and saw that there are incredible, talented people that don't have as many opportunities as the international featured artists. I advocate for artists who have studies and backgrounds but don't have a chance. I'm a single mom and I support my daughter 100%. I work 7 days a week - my days off, I work for myself. I also work for Kush Fine Art Gallery to keep my income stable.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think learning is something that doesn't take any weight in your brain to storage knowledge. I love learning new concepts and reinventing myself. I think that's something that people should do, because we're multi-talent, all of us, we just don't explore. The more you look, the more you find within yourself. I'm a go-getter, and I just like to learn. I think my most notable professional achievement is opening my company and taking the courage to lead something that I truthfully believe in - taking the leap to believe in what I think is right to do, and what I think is not only looking at the financial side of it, but the self-realization.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I want to be recognized for myself, not for what happened to me. I want people to get inspired, but for who I am. I do honest sales and connect with people that are genuinely interested in art. As a humanitarian and an empath, I advocate for artists that don't have a voice, didn't know how to sell their art, and deserve to be out there in the art world. I know that God is watching out, and He knows my heart, and eventually it will happen in the right time. I wanted to do something with art for children, especially kids that are in foster care, because they need to know that they matter and that brings them hope and themselves, that they can despite their situation, they can be someone in life.
