About Vanessa
I went to U of I and majored in molecular and cellular biology. Originally wanted pre-med but took a break after college and got a job at Doctors Data as a laboratory assistant. Then moved to Mercy Hospital for fast-track training with Alverno Lab and became certified through an alternative pathway. Now I run tests on body fluids at the ER hospital, report criticals, and handle blood in emergencies.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep working and try out new things to find what they like. Just keep studying, sometimes it can get boring, but in the long run everything's worth it.
