About Vanessa
Vanessa Sanchez is a dedicated administrative professional whose career journey reflects adaptability, perseverance, and a commitment to helping people succeed. She began her professional path in administrative support and inside sales at Building Care, where she developed strong communication skills while managing office responsibilities and connecting with clients. Her ability to build relationships and understand people’s needs led her to Express Personnel, where she worked as a staffing consultant helping individuals find opportunities that matched their strengths and placed them in roles where they could thrive.
Throughout her career, Vanessa continued expanding her skills across customer service, operations, and healthcare-related environments. After her time in staffing, she was offered an opportunity with Humble Manufacturing, where she gained valuable experience in warehouse administration, customer service, and coordinating with freight carriers. She later joined LSL, a home medical manufacturing company, where she developed additional knowledge in medical supply operations and workplace processes. When the COVID-19 pandemic created new challenges and opportunities, Vanessa continued moving forward, working through a temporary agency and earning a position at the University of Illinois Chicago as a Medical Office Associate supporting healthcare operations and the public.
Today, Vanessa brings her diverse background in administration, customer service, healthcare, and community engagement to her role within the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois Chicago. She is passionate about creating positive experiences, supporting teams, and contributing to work that makes a difference in people’s lives. Guided by her faith, family, and dedication to personal growth, Vanessa believes in continuous learning, professionalism, and showing up with excellence. Her journey is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the belief that every opportunity can become a stepping stone toward success.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the motivation and inspiration I receive from my children. They encourage me to continue growing, work hard, and strive to be the best version of myself in both my personal and professional life.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to take a moment to visualize my goals and stay focused on the bigger picture. The “island” reflection reminds me to be intentional, stay calm, and keep moving forward with purpose.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to keep your head up, believe in yourself, and take pride in the work you do. Stay dedicated, continue learning, and always give your best effort.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is working with the public, as it requires patience, understanding, and strong communication skills. At the same time, it is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a positive impact through the service I provide.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are teamwork, consistency, and respect for shared goals. I believe it is important for everyone to be on the same page, work together effectively, and follow policies and procedures to create a successful and supportive environment.
