Her Story

About Vani

Vani Gundlapalli serves as Teacher and Director of Art and Culture in San Jose, California. She began her serious international work in 2018 after approximately 20 years of teaching experience, and she has been in the field for 22 years. Gundlapalli earned a bachelor's degree in Statistics and pursued child education studies at Santa Cruz University to enter the teaching profession. Her areas of specialization include art and culture, education, and inspiring and motivating the next generation by mentoring and counseling middle and high school children. She is involved with the San Jose Education Department Board, UNESCO, CAD, IFI in India, and serves on advisory boards. Gundlapalli has received seven international awards including Jayavarman VII from Cambodia, the Mayurai award from Tamil Nadu, Sivapada Ankita, Jayasimha from Bali, and honors from Malaysian, Indian, European, and Sri Lankan governments. She volunteers with the Sankarai Foundation, Silicon Andra, and Sanjeevani Hospital. Gundlapalli attributes her success to her passion for art and culture. She advises young women to be persistent, do their job, and not expect anything in return, and she values peace of mind above material wealth.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My passion about culture, art and culture.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The UNESCO president advised to aim for 100% perfection but also to slow down, as one cannot achieve 100% perfection in everything.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be persistent, do your job, and don't expect anything in return. Persistence is very important.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include securing funds for the organization and handling over 1,050 artists and cultural ambassadors.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Peace of mind is the most important value. Even with a million dollars, without peace of mind, it is not enough.
