Verenice Gutierrez
Dr. Verenice Gutierrez is an accomplished educational leader with 29 years of experience spanning K-20 environments, including 18 years in leadership roles and five years as a principal. She currently serves as the iConnect Zone Superintendent for El Paso 49 Falcon School District, overseeing a portfolio of 11 charter schools, three district-operated schools, and a comprehensive homeschool program serving over 13,700 students. Dr. Gutierrez holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Educational Management from New Mexico State University and has extensive expertise in Bilingual and Special Education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gutierrez has specialized in data-driven leadership, leveraging student performance trends to inform strategic decisions and drive school improvement. She is passionate about fostering equity, closing opportunity gaps, and delivering impactful professional development to empower educators. Her innovative leadership includes expanding specialized programs such as student pilot licensure through Aerolab, elite athlete development, and applied and advanced homeschool options, ensuring that all students have access to personalized, high-quality learning experiences.
In addition to her district leadership, Dr. Gutierrez has contributed to education as a coach, consultant, and adjunct instructor, sharing her expertise in instructional practices, equity, and educational management. She is a recognized advocate for culturally responsive leadership and inclusive learning environments and has been honored with awards and credentials reflecting her commitment to educational excellence and equity. Dr. Gutierrez is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of leaders and continuously advancing innovative practices that improve outcomes for students and educators alike.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to my father. His guidance, values, and example taught me the importance of hard work, integrity, and perseverance, which have shaped my approach to leadership and life.
