Her Story
About Veronica
Veronica Fregoso serves as Managing Director of Birth Companions Community Center (BCCC), a San Francisco-based nonprofit she has led since starting in 2018. Her path into the field began when a friend had a baby, leading her to become a newborn specialist and develop a passion for doula services aimed at improving postpartum care. Prior to 2018, she volunteered with community organizations to assist families in finding better schools for their children. Fregoso brings a background in accounting, computers, and IT to her role, where she has expanded the organization from one or two doulas to 65. She attributes her success to the support of people around her, including doctors and midwives who provide training, and draws on family principles in her work. Her advice to others is to pursue dreams without stopping until they are completed.
