Her Story

About Veronica

I started in social media in 2020 as a hobby after my previous company went down due to COVID. It grew into content creation where I collaborate with brands from South Korea and Asia, creating and editing videos to promote products like clothing and makeup on TikTok shop. I also work full-time at Progressive Insurance for nearly 4 years while pursuing social media management certification. I graduated from Brooklyn College with my associate's degree.

Ten minutes with Veronica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I definitely think it's just God, because if it wasn't for him, I don't think I would be where I am today. I thank him for everything.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Somebody once told me you want to wake up in the morning saying that you love your job, not wake up in the morning saying that you hate your job. That stuck with me, especially as someone doing both corporate and social media work. It motivates me when I think about social media.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Definitely do not give up on your dreams. Always do what your heart feels like you have to do, and don't depend on nobody at all. You need to depend on yourself. I tell my daughters that they need to be independent, they need to work for themselves, and if they want to do something, they have to just go and get up and do it, not even think about it twice. And if they fail, they get up again and redo it and get it right.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There's a lot of competition because everybody wants to do social media, get the most followers, and be influential. The challenge is finding your own group of people to support you and getting your ideas together so your audience likes what you put out there. But there's always going to be a group of people that are gonna support you no matter what.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Definitely honesty on both. You need to be honest in order to work in any environment, whether it's social media or corporate jobs. You need to be honest and show people who you really are. And that gets you to a lot of places.
