Phoenix, AZ 85085

Veronica Sas, EA, is a bilingual finance executive, entrepreneur, board member, author, Owner of VSA Accounting Services, and Chief Financial Officer of ACCEL, based in the Greater Phoenix area. She brings more than 14 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership, with deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and process improvement. Known for her strong work ethic, adaptability, and analytical strength, Veronica is a collaborative leader who partners effectively across all levels of an organization to strengthen financial performance, accountability, and operational efficiency.
Veronica serves as Chief Financial Officer of ACCEL, a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Phoenix community for nearly 45 years. ACCEL is dedicated to supporting children with special needs, including autism, mobility challenges, and learning disabilities, through specialized educational programs. The organization also provides adult services through group-supported employment for individuals who are not yet able to fully enter the workforce, as well as an autism clinic that helps younger children transition successfully into traditional school environments. Veronica was drawn to ACCEL because it allows her to align her financial expertise with meaningful mission-driven work that directly improves lives. She is deeply committed to ensuring that individuals with special needs have access to opportunities that support growth, independence, and quality of life.
When Veronica joined ACCEL approximately two and a half years ago, the organization was facing significant financial and compliance challenges, including overdue IRS filings, bond covenant issues, and gaps in key reporting requirements that placed its nonprofit status at risk. Through disciplined financial management, collaboration with leadership, and a strong focus on accountability and process improvement, she led a successful turnaround effort that restored full compliance in less than eight months. Today, ACCEL operates with stronger financial discipline, improved departmental budget ownership, and greater organizational alignment around sustainability and growth. Veronica is especially proud of this transformation, which reflects both her professional capabilities and her passion for strengthening mission-driven organizations and creating lasting community impact.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my willingness to consider different perspectives and recognize that I am not always right, which allows me to consistently identify what is best for the organization. I am committed to hard work, dedication, and a strong work ethic, along with a continuous desire to learn, grow, and improve. Above all, I focus on doing what is right, even when it is challenging, and I believe that integrity and persistence have been key drivers in my professional success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just be eager to learn, and you know, you have to work hard for the reward, but the reward is worth it. I think this generation doesn't have the same work ethic as, you know, some of the older ones do, but the ones that exhibit that work ethic will get ahead. Finance and accounting is a wonderful field to get into, and, you know, with a little hard work and dedication, it will pay off.
