Her Story

About Veronica

I've been in real estate since April 17th, 2017, working as a team leader for the Wier Team at eXp Realty, a team my husband and I created together. I maintain the entire residential side of our business while my husband handles the commercial side. I've been a top 20% agent since the end of our first year, and I've built a consistent business that's really based on family, friends, and referrals - I don't do any more cold calls or anything like that. Real estate kind of fell into my lap. I was working in the banking industry and going to school to be a nurse, but I attended a luncheon with my husband and saw so much opportunity. I knew I wanted to help people and didn't want to be stuck behind a desk from 9 to 5 - I wanted to be heavily involved in my kids' lives. So I took a leap of faith, cashed in all of my 401K for my school, my marketing, and to prepare ourselves for what was going to come. I started my classes at the end of February and passed my exam less than 2 months later. I got my real estate license through Champion School of Real Estate, but I really wanted a lot more for myself and had dreams of opening up my own brokerage, so I went back to school and got my bachelor's degree in Business Management and Operations from Abilene Christian University, graduating in 2022. I've had 2 heart surgeries, and God kind of closed that door for me on opening my own brokerage. What I have found is that I am really in the business of not managing people, but helping other people achieve their dreams. I'm a certified mentor through eXp Realty, helping new agents come along, and I also teach at San Jacinto College here locally at all three campuses as a real estate professor since 2023. My husband always jokes and says that I've missed my calling of teaching because I'm a good teacher. I am a lifelong student and I love to learn. I'm also a homeschool mom. My husband and I used to lead an organization called SuccessRisers that we founded to help grow small business, which is what we're passionate about together as a couple, though we've put a pause on that because of my health issues.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Veronica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say, first and foremost, my faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Secondly would just be my determination to create a life and a lifestyle for my children that I didn't necessarily grow up with. And then, I would say also the support of my husband and then my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You can't help someone grow if you don't have the knowledge to do so. So, for me, it's just constantly learning, being educated, and sharing that education, not just with new agents coming into the industry, but also to my clients, so that they can make sound decisions, you know, wherever they are in the home buying or selling process.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You can do it. And it's easy to get distracted with what you see on social media, or what somebody's other stats are as far as how many homes they've sold. But the real success is when you live a lifestyle by design that's 100% dependent on what your needs, your dreams, your desires are for you and your family. So don't compare yourself to anybody else.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the biggest opportunities right now is probably the lack of inventory. I think there's been a stagnation with not knowing where the economy's going, and sellers kind of holding on to the house that they have, because the rates aren't as favorable as they were, you know, 5 years ago. But I am starting to see a shift, and so I'm excited to see what the future holds for our industry, because I think now that the market has kind of settled and we're not seeing huge shifts in rates and things like that, that's when you see the big key players in the industry showing up, as they have been, even through the tumultuous times.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my business life, it would be that my clients always remember positively the experience that they had, and that I'm the person that comes to mind when they need someone to help either them buy and sell a house, or a family member or a friend. And then in my personal life, just a woman of strong faith, and that I was always true to myself and to who God is calling me to be.
