About Vertina

I specialize in pediatric sleep studies at the Children's Lung and Asthma Sleep Specialists here in Tallahassee, where I've been working for the last 3 years. Before that, I worked at TMH's sleep center. At TMH, I worked with a team where each tech would get 2 patients and we'd have someone do the paperwork, but at the clinic I'm at now, I do it all by myself. I handle the paperwork, conduct the sleep studies, get patients up in the morning, and run the studies at night, staying awake the whole night. I'm looking for everything I can possibly find to help create a diagnosis for my patients. I work with patients who have various conditions like circadian rhythm disorders, sleep apnea, and insomnia. I completed my training through the ASTEP program online, which is accredited by the AASM, a sleep center in Illinois. Since Tallahassee's options were limited, I did everything online and completed the program. Like a nurse, I had to do clinicals when I was at TMH for a certain amount of time before I could sign off, and they decided to hire me once I had my license. I earned my CPSGT certification as a Certified Polysomnography Technologist. Beyond my work in sleep medicine, I'm also a published author. I've been writing ever since I was a teenager and self-published several books, including a sequel that came out back-to-back in 2020 and 2021, and a poetry collection called Bittersweet that was at Barnes & Noble for a while. Now all my works are at Books A Million. I like to read and write.
