What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Stigma against those who suffer from mental health issues, Mental breakdown, and financial barriers, insurance coverage and the cost of premiums and co-pays. Some people have to make a choice either eat or pay a high premium cost. I see this a lot in the community that I serve children going hungry and the elderly without medication. Just because of their coverage has changed without being notified. Provider shortages this isn't just about numbers, it's about where those providers are and what specialties they cover. Rural areas, underserved urban communities, and specialized fields like child psychiatry or addiction treatment and low-income communities face the most serve shortage when it comes to healthcare and mental health. Lastly, Overcoming stigma requires consistent, hard work from advocates, educators, and individuals sharing their stories to change public perception and policy. Professionals need to continuously learn about culturally competent care and trauma-informed approaches to build trust with diverse communities, helping to dismantle existing barriers.
