Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to seeing the appreciation that I get from my clients. Because of the high premiums everyone's been paying, clients actually want to understand their coverage now. Being able to educate them, combined with the passion in my life to help others, is really what got me to the point where I'm at with my career. It's about making sure my clients are protected and that they truly understand what they have.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is being engaging with your clients and understanding that there's still very much a need for that personal relationship. Picking the phone up and talking to people is so important. A lot of people right now can go direct to consumer and get insurance online through Progressive's website or other sites, but what's missing from the insurance equation is that customer service aspect. It's about keeping the customer in customer service. My clients know they can call me anytime, any day of the week, night, whenever they need something. We build a relationship where we work together, and if we're not a good match, if we're not a good fit, no harm, no foul. They'll go elsewhere. So you build a clientele base that works with you, and you want to work with them, and it makes your job just that much better.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would want to empower them that this industry, although it's come a long way, is still very much male-dominated. However, I do feel like women bring a different approach to the industry. Men make insurance sales more transactional, while women kind of bring in that more personal touch of understanding and getting to know the clients. There's so much opportunity in this industry. Unfortunately, there's such a need for people to get into the industry, and it can be intimidating. Again, just very male-dominated, very competitive. But if you have the passion and the drive and the knowledge, there's endless opportunity.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in our field right now is that we're still really battling a lot of fraudulent claim activity. That put the industry in tremendous turmoil back in 2020, around that time, and we had 7 major insurance carriers in Florida go insolvent in a year and a half. It was devastating. It's all because of people trying to take advantage of the industry.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust, honesty, reliability, ethics, and good morals are the values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life.
