Her Interview

Ten minutes with Victoria

01What do you attribute your success to?

My relationship skills. Even when I was in a sales role, I utilized my relationship skills. I started college as a psych major. And my degree's in Human Development and Family Studies, but for me, it was taking a step back, really listening. Like, I wanted to listen to solve their problem, not to pitch them something. And when you can connect on a personal level, you get people to open up to you a bit more.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Think 5 years out to help predict and solve what's needed. Distribution should be a fraternal twin to the organization and we are an extension of the team.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Align yourself with multiple mentors and different teams, different backgrounds to explore what is the most appropriate background for you, and make sure it's something you enjoy. Keep the options open.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Many suppliers don't understand the channels. It can be very challenging for the channel market within them when they don't understand them.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

If you're not valuable to the team, they're not going to keep you. If you're not valuable in your knowledge, you can't form a true channel strategy or programs, and you just need to show value within yourself. You have to be true to yourself in the end.
