About Victoria
Victoria King serves as Senior Physician Executive for Team Culture and Performance at Novant Health. She has been with the organization since 2006 after beginning her healthcare career in 2003 during residency. In this position, she leads onboarding and leadership development initiatives for the entire clinician workforce across the system. She developed the Odyssey Program in 2015, a four-part series that has supported thousands of new physicians and advanced practice providers. King previously held the role of Clinical Physician Executive for Team Culture and Performance. Her clinical background includes 20 years practicing family medicine. She completed her undergraduate studies and competed as a Division I field hockey player at Syracuse University, pursued medical training at the University of Connecticut, and completed her residency at Advocate in Charlotte.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My family that loves and supports me, my colleagues who partner with me, and the willingness to learn from where I've gotten it wrong. Also my background as a nationally ranked master swimmer which has helped me persevere.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Build your colleague network and board of directors including mentors, coaches, and colleagues. Learn to ask for help. Be kind to yourself and focus on positive self-talk. Nurture parts of your identity outside the professional arena and integrate work and life.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In personal life, my family. In professional life, the relationships with colleagues and supporting the people on the front lines.
