Her Story
About Victoria
Victoria Maize is a Registered Nurse who works in medical surgical units, providing direct patient care to individuals with a variety of needs including antibiotic treatment and post-surgical recovery. She graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2020 and became a fully licensed Registered Nurse after passing the NCLEX in February 2025. As a first-generation college student, Victoria has always been passionate about healthcare and caring for others, inspired in part by her grandfather's passing from heart disease during her first semester of nursing school. Her day-to-day responsibilities include patient reporting, reviewing labs and consents, administering medications, assisting with activities of daily living, and collaborating with doctors, therapists, and families. Victoria attributes her success to her parents' unwavering support, with her mother pushing her toward honors classes and college courses in high school and her father providing study materials for her NCLEX exam. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue further education to become a nurse educator and a family nurse practitioner within the next five years.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My parents have been my biggest support, especially my mom who always pushed me to do honors classes and take college courses in high school, and my dad who bought me study books for my NCLEX. They encouraged me to continue my education and helped me every step of the way, which means a lot because not everyone has that kind of support.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep going and don't give up no matter how many times you fail. I had to take my NCLEX three times before passing, so I encourage everyone to keep fighting and pressing forward. If you believe in God, pray, trust Him, and have faith that He will do what you need in your life.
