About Victoria

I've spent the past 10 years in the fashion industry, with 5 of those years as part of the founding team at La Rue Day, the footwear brand, where I helped build it from the ground up. While working there, I noticed so many inefficiencies within the industry and with the tools available for us to scale. Everything was super legacy, and even if you made processes more efficient, there was only so much you could do with the wrong tools, especially now with AI. I figured that there had to be a better solution out there, and that's when I started to go through this route and partnered with Dom, who founded Amber, to join him and be able to offer a better solution for brands. Just this past year, I transitioned into fashion tech, and I've been serving as Director of Brand Partnerships at Amber since the beginning of the year, around 6 months now. What motivates me most is seeing clients have access to tools and processes done in a more efficient way that I wish I had when I was in their shoes. I know how time-consuming everything was, and how many people I needed to hire to get results that now, with our AI-powered solution, you can get answers in instants. What would take one of my team members days to get back to me can now be done instantly. I do a lot of bridging of understanding because I've been in the brand's shoes, understanding what is still a pain point for them and how we can help solve it and bring this back to the team to help them create an even more robust solution for brands.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I feel like the most important thing is to always challenge yourself and never settle. Always be curious, be trying to learn more, and you're never gonna know it all. I think it's easy, right, whenever you start to grow in your career, you start to feel like you're already good enough, but I feel like you always need to challenge yourself and the status quo. Always feel like there is a better way out there, and always keep trying to evolve and to learn more. Even when you feel like you've got it, there's always something new launching out there. This is always one of the things that did happen in the fashion industry where it's always been done this way, so people don't want to change processes. It's always an uphill battle, but I think it's worth it. People also start to think that if this is done in a better way, they're not needed anymore, but as long as you are developing new things and evolving and achieving more, you're always gonna be needed. So never be scared, especially now with AI, because people are like, oh no, I don't want this because I'm gonna lose my job. You're never going to be replaced if you're finding ways for things to be done in a better way. Continue always to be curious and looking out there for what's out there, and always be genuinely curious to learn more and to feel like you always have more to learn.
