Ten minutes with Victoria
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith and my family’s legacy. Inspired by my grandparents’ resilience and entrepreneurial spirit, I named Key Counseling, Coaching, and Consulting after our family name to honor their leadership, perseverance, and impact.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received came from my own life experiences: “If it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work for anyone.” I believe in choosing a career path that aligns with who you are and who you are becoming. When you honor yourself, you are better able to serve others.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to avoid the pressure to overperform or overextend themselves. Focus on opportunities that align with your values, strengths, and authentic self while working within your capacity and trusting your unique leadership style.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face is finding opportunities that fully align with my 25+ years of experience, education, and professional credentials. Instead of waiting for the right opportunity, I have created my own path through writing, public speaking, consulting, podcasting, and building my personal brand. As co-host and mental health expert on Heritage of Hush, I help address important conversations around intergenerational trauma, family secrets, and stigmatized topics that many families struggle to discuss.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide my work and personal life are honoring God, honoring myself, respecting others, and recognizing that everyone has a story worth understanding. These principles shape how I lead, serve, and connect with others.
