About Viktoriya
Viktoriya Yanitskaya leads the simulation modeling practice for rail operations at ISR in New York, NY. She has been with the firm for a little over two years. Her educational background includes a master's degree in urban engineering earned in 1988 and a PhD in structural engineering earned in 1993. She also completed specialized training in simulation modeling software including RTC and RailSim for rail network capacity analysis. Prior to joining ISR, Yanitskaya spent 28 years leading the simulation modeling practice at WSP, where the firm became the go-to provider for simulation modeling work for Amtrak and Long Island Railroad. She is a past member of the Operations Analysis Committee at the Transportation Research Board. Yanitskaya attributes her success to her education and to meeting the right people who supported her career development. She values honesty, integrity, and being a trusting partner in business.

01What do you attribute your success to?
First of all, it's my education that allowed me to understand complex technical concepts, but also meeting the right people that willing to help, willing to support, and leading me through the maze of career development.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunities are the challenges. We always look for the most complex projects that by completion allows us to demonstrate our capabilities and demonstrate where and why we are different and better than competition. Working on a complex project is the answer.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, integrity, and be a trusting partner in business. That's important.
