Her Story

About Vineeta

I have been working in scientific publication for almost 10 years, and I always wanted to stay close to science but never wanted to do the bench work. After completing my PhD from the Indian Institute of Science in India, I moved to the U.S. and secured a postdoc position at Harvard Medical School, where I became fascinated with tuberous sclerosis complex and worked on translational research. I then transitioned to Worcester to focus on drug screening, and later moved into another translational area working on kidney diseases and biomarkers. I joined a company where I spent over 9 years, starting as a content editor and advancing to Manager of Review. In this role, I worked extensively in scientific publication, specializing in translational sciences and oncology. My main expertise is helping scientists publish their work by translating complex scientific concepts into understandable, reproducible language. I train teams, work to find proper peer reviewers for papers, assess whether papers make sense, and collaborate with authors to get their work published. What I love most about this work is that as a scientific editor and publication expert, I get to see a lot of papers and science discoveries, which keeps me connected to new developments in science without being tied to bench work. I recently left my role because I wanted to move on to something bigger and do something on my own.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say my most notable professional achievement is that I exactly knew how to handle researchers and scientists who would talk in very specific, technical languages. I've helped them communicate in a language which is actually understood by the broader scientific community. I've helped them develop their work into an understandable language that makes their research accessible and reproducible. This ability to bridge the gap between complex scientific concepts and clear communication has been the key to my success in scientific publication.
