About Vinita
I am a clinical compliance and healthcare auditing professional with over fifteen years of experience in regulatory compliance, physician auditing, and healthcare administration, currently serving as Clinical Compliance Advisor for CU Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, a role I have held since October 2018, where I serve as a regulatory compliance advisor by staying updated on federal, state, and industry-specific laws and regulations, assist the Compliance Director in developing and implementing compliance strategy and annual compliance plans, conduct strategic risk assessments to mitigate compliance issues, manage and resolve compliance issues through investigations and reviews, develop policies and procedures, ensure proper contracts, licenses, and accreditations are in place, and strategize, develop, and manage processes related to clinic integrations.
Prior to this role, I spent over five years at UCHealth in progressively responsible roles, including Internal Audit Manager for over two years, where I managed daily operations of the internal audit function related to physicians and clinic medical practices, managed physician audits including due diligence, new hire, high risk, and surgery audits, managed staff relations, monitored departmental budgets and regulatory compliance, and acted as Director in their absence. I also served as Compliance Auditor for over a year, where I conducted compliance and operational audits to identify compliance-related risks and internal control weaknesses, performed independent audits of clinics and hospital operations, and communicated quality concerns to quality management and risk management departments. I also served as Coding Quality Coordinator for over a year, where I reviewed accounts for appropriate APC assignment and charge accuracy, conducted monthly audits on coders, and worked with finance, quality, and compliance departments.
Earlier in my career, I served as Professional Coder at Denver Health for over three years, where I performed profee coding for outpatient and inpatient surgeries, mentored other coders, and educated physicians on coding issues, and as Billing and Coding Specialist at Highlands Family Medicine for three years, where I managed referrals, coding, and billing.
Across my career in healthcare compliance, auditing, and coding, my work has been driven by a commitment to regulatory excellence, financial integrity, and patient-centered care. Whether I am leading compliance initiatives, conducting audits, or educating providers and staff, I bring a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and a dedication to ensuring that healthcare organizations operate with the highest standards of compliance and quality. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue advancing clinical compliance and healthcare excellence at CU Medicine and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
