Her Interview
Ten minutes with Violet
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong support system that has been with me throughout my career. My husband, in particular, has been my rock and a constant source of encouragement, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, overcome challenges, and continue growing both personally and professionally. His unwavering support has played an important role in helping me build and sustain a fulfilling career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that comfort is where your dreams die. It has reminded me to continually challenge myself, embrace growth, and step outside of my comfort zone rather than becoming complacent. I believe meaningful professional growth comes from being willing to take risks, learn from new experiences, and pursue opportunities that push me forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the accounting industry is to be prepared to put in the time and effort required to build a strong foundation, particularly in the early stages of your career. Accounting can demand long hours, but that dedication can provide valuable experience and opportunities for growth. I also encourage women to prioritize networking and building genuine professional relationships, as meaningful conversations and connections can often lead to new opportunities, including new clients and long-term business relationships.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in accounting right now is attracting and retaining talented professionals. There are not enough people entering the field to meet the growing demand for skilled accountants, making it increasingly important for firms to invest in developing talent, creating opportunities for growth, and encouraging more individuals to consider accounting as a rewarding and sustainable career.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being kind to myself is one of the most important values I carry into both my professional and personal life. I believe in giving myself grace, recognizing that growth comes with challenges and mistakes, and maintaining a healthy perspective throughout the journey. Practicing self-compassion allows me to stay grounded, resilient, and present while continuing to learn, grow, and give my best to the people around me.
