Viviane Carvalho
Viviane Carvalho is a dynamic professional whose career reflects a strong blend of creativity, adaptability, and leadership. She currently serves as a Customer Experience Supervisor at Delta Air Lines, where she has worked for over three years after starting as a Customer Service Specialist. Demonstrating exceptional performance and dedication, she earned a promotion to supervisor within her first year. In her current role, Viviane oversees customer service agents, supports the resolution of complex travel issues, and ensures passengers—including those with disabilities and special travel needs—receive attentive, high-quality care. Known for her empathetic approach, she is committed to resolving customer concerns whenever possible and escalates cases when necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
Prior to joining Delta, Viviane built an eight-year career as a fashion designer in both New York and Atlanta, specializing in women’s ready-to-wear. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she developed a strong foundation in design, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving. Her experience in the fashion industry sharpened her attention to detail and ability to translate ideas into tangible, user-focused outcomes—skills that continue to influence her professional work today.
Driven by a passion for growth and continuous learning, Viviane recently expanded her expertise into digital design by earning a UI/UX Design certification through Springboard. She is actively exploring opportunities to transition into a UX design role within Delta, where she hopes to merge her operational knowledge with her design skills to enhance user experiences. In addition, she is a certified financial agent offering life insurance and annuities as a side endeavor. Outside of her professional pursuits, Viviane enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and exploring nature—especially mountains and hiking. She also appreciates quieter moments, whether relaxing with a good book or her favorite shows, and values time spent visiting with her parents and cousins. Guided by principles of consistency, respect, and lifelong learning, she approaches every opportunity with a commitment to excellence and genuine care for others.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being consistent and trying to perform the best that I can in my role. That has been my attitude in every job I've had, whether it was fashion design or my current work at Delta. I just try to be consistent in my work, evolve, and grow, and I always listen to other people. I think dealing with people is the biggest thing in any job, because you can always learn skills, that's not a problem, but dealing with people is what really matters. I'm friendly, I respect people, and I treat them as I would like to be treated. That's the way I approach my work and how I continue to grow and be good at what I do.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was from my mentor when I was working as a fashion designer. She told me that I shouldn't jump into doing my own label and my own thing right away, that I should first gain experience in the industry. I think that was really good advice, and it applies to everything else in life. Getting experience as you work is always important before doing anything on your own, because then you'll learn how everything goes, how everything works out, what is good and what is not. That way, you can apply all of that knowledge to your own company and to whatever you're doing on your own.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice would be to keep trying and never give up. I think the only people who don't get what they want or don't succeed are the ones that stop and give up. So just don't ever give up. If you're passionate about a specific profession and you want to do it, you should continue going for it and trying to get into the industry, no matter what. You have to be confident that you would be able to do what you would like to do. Just don't ever give up, because when you give up, that's when you lose.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field is when my hands are tied and I cannot help a customer solve their problem. I try to help them as much as I can and solve their issues, but when I can't, that's the most difficult time for me. I have to tell the passenger or the person that I'm unfortunately unable to help them, that I cannot move the flights or solve their situation. In those cases, I have to escalate it for them to create a case on Delta.com and take it up further. That difficult moment when I can't solve the case is really the hardest part of my job.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are being truthful, honest, and respectful with everything that I do. I also believe in being confident in myself and my abilities. These values guide both my professional work and my personal life.
