Her Story

About Vritika

I did my bachelor's in Technology from Bensali University in Rajasthan, Jaipur. It's an all-girls university. After that, I went to Singapore to do my Master's in Embedded Systems from NTU Nanyang Technological University. Then I moved back to India and joined Cummins India Group as part of a validation group. Over the next 4 years we expanded that group from 2 to 9 members. I moved to the US in 2022 and am now supporting model in loop and software in loop work as a system engineering lead.

Ten minutes with Vritika

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success I attribute to my upbringing. My parents have been the major driving force for preparing me for this world. They made sure we are honest, have high integrity, are hardworking, never fear from learning. The idea of learning and that learning is fun is something which I got from my parents.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'll say not to let others' idea of you drive you. Be yourself, be confident. And don't be scared to find new path. There are lots of opportunities for every one of us. And your path might not look similar to anyone else's path, and be okay with that. Be okay walking alone for a bit.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Within my field the biggest challenge is system engineering practices is not being utilized as much as it should be. The reason being in starting it might feel like additional paperwork or documentation but it's kind of a practice area of development. If implemented correctly it can help all the projects and program work very smoothly, reduce rework a lot. Especially in trucking automotive we are a little bit far behind than the passenger cars.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is something which is very valuable to me. I myself am a very honest person and I prefer that in people I work with be it personal or professional life. To have high integrity like if I have committed to something I make sure I'm able to deliver it and I expect something similar from others too.
