What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to the guidance and mentorship I’ve received from remarkable educators, including Dr. Melissa Wilson and Dr. Evelyn Quinones. Their insights as National Board Certified mentors profoundly influenced my approach to teaching and professional growth.
Navigating the demands of the classroom can be challenging, but I’ve learned to draw motivation from my students’ progress and achievements. Reviewing their notes and seeing their growth has been a constant source of inspiration, especially during difficult moments, and has reinforced my commitment to education.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide my work and personal life are rooted in education, service, and wellness. I earned my master’s degree and special education certification from Notre Dame University of Maryland, and my experiences as a science coordinator and coach for a science bowl competition have strengthened my commitment to fostering learning and growth in others. I actively participate in professional organizations such as the State of Maryland Literacy Council and the National Education Association, which allow me to stay connected and advocate for meaningful educational initiatives.
Advocacy and service are central to who I am. I am deeply involved in supporting the autism community, leading a special needs ministry at my church, and contributing to programs like The Right Way, God’s Way, which provides exercise and wellness opportunities. My recent mission trip to Honduras further reinforced my dedication to helping others and serving communities in need.
Wellness and personal growth are also important values for me. I have been exploring health and wellness solutions through my work with Make Wellness, a peptide company, which has positively impacted my own journey. Together, these experiences reflect my commitment to education, advocacy, and holistic well-being in both my professional and personal life.
