Ten minutes with Wendi
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I'm kind of like the buffalo, I charge the storm. You just gotta stay focused, you've gotta stay on purpose. You've got to stay on your path with your systems, charge the storm, don't get discouraged. Just focus on what you do best, and serve others the best way that you can. Focus on the one thing, and just keep pushing through towards the storm.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find the person that is doing the things that you want to be like, and mimic that person. If you want to be a luxury real estate agent, find the one that's doing it the best. Don't reinvent the wheel. Shadow them, talk to them, eat lunch with them, go on appointments with them. Educate yourself. No one can ever take your education away from you. Mentor the ones that are already doing what you would like to do. Then jump out there with both feet, have confidence in yourself, and buckle down and do it.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There's a lot of opportunities. Every time you walk out the door, there's an opportunity. Anytime you're in a tough market, there's an opportunity, because that's when others seem to lay down or back off. Challenges are being able to juggle all the things, and as the market shifts, systems have to be in place. The world of real estate right now, it's almost like you've got to be an actor or an actress and make all of these videos, and be out there in the social world, and having AI run all this stuff for you. That sometimes is a challenge, just keeping up with the speed of everything.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values that are important to me in my work is leadership, growing relationships, building relationships. I want to be the person that you can depend on for more than just looking at homes. I want to be a resource for my community. In my personal life, God first, then family. I'm the glue of my personal life for my family. I have a passion for fitness and I'm working on obtaining a personal trainer's license to help women that are 50 plus in age.
