Her Story

About Wendy

Wendy Caldwell is a highly accomplished leader in the fields of addiction recovery and prisoner reentry, with over 30 years of experience developing and implementing programs for specialized populations. A graduate of Bowling Green State University and Tiffin University, where she earned a Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration, Wendy has dedicated her career to creating interventions that positively impact individuals and communities. She is trained in evidence-based models, cognitive behavioral techniques, and motivational interviewing, equipping her to foster meaningful behavioral change and support those transitioning back into society.

After retiring from public service in 2018, Wendy leveraged her expertise as an independent contractor and founder of Place to Recover, LLC, providing empowerment workshops and community-focused initiatives. She also established the P2R Training and Resource Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, where she serves as Founder and Executive Director. Under her leadership, P2R offers comprehensive wrap-around services, connecting marginalized residents with employment, housing, and critical community resources, with a particular focus on reentry and recovery populations. Wendy’s work has earned her recognition, including the Cultural Award at the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration in Elyria, Ohio.

Throughout her career, Wendy has spearheaded transformative initiatives such as Lorain County’s First Restored Citizen Summit and the G.A.M.E. Project, creating opportunities for individuals in recovery with criminal justice involvement. Her extensive experience in program coordination, grant management, and training for community and correctional staff demonstrates her commitment to building sustainable support systems. Beyond her professional achievements, Wendy’s dedication to mentoring, family engagement, and community advocacy reflects her enduring mission to empower individuals and strengthen the fabric of her community.
