Her Story

About wendy

Wendy Solis serves as senior sales representative and sales manager for her company in the biomedical sales industry. With three years in the field and two years in her current role, she covers a large territory including North Texas from Waco to the Oklahoma border, as well as parts of East, West, and sometimes South Texas. Her responsibilities include building and maintaining hospital relationships, handling equipment repairs, and participating in team meetings. She is also Events Chair for the HTMA Association - North Texas, organizing events such as Veterans Day gatherings and the Sparky Awards to support networking and continuing education for biomeds. Wendy attended Arizona College of Nursing with the initial goal of becoming an L and D nurse but transitioned fully into sales, where she enjoys the relationship-building aspects and the importance of biomedical work in hospitals. She attributes her drive to her two children, whom she wants to inspire to pursue their goals, and she values honesty and loyalty above all in both professional and personal contexts.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with wendy

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids push me the most to be better at my job. I want them to know they can do whatever they want and there's always a ladder to climb if you're committed.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My former boss advised to always put my best face forward, keep an optimistic attitude, remember I've worked hard to be where I am, and to keep pushing forward even on hard days with new tactics for success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Push through, it's a male-dominated field but we girls can do just as much as men can. Don't be pushed away by being a girl, remember you're in a different position by being a girl in this field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Hospitals doing work in-house is the biggest challenge as a third-party vendor. We've addressed it by offering service contracts and starting an HTM program to handle specific equipment like blenders and infusion pumps at low prices.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and loyalty are the biggest values important in every aspect, both professional and personal.
