Wendy Winn is an accomplished equine consultant and life coach with a passion for mentoring and developing both horses and people. Based in St. George, Kansas, she leads Winn Horses, a team dedicated to advancing the western industry through innovative horsemanship, transformative clinics, and authentic western values. With over two decades of experience, Wendy combines her expertise in equine training with coaching skills to inspire growth, resilience, and leadership in her clients.

In addition to her work with Winn Horses, Wendy has served as an assistant college rodeo coach at Kansas State University for over a decade, where she collaborates with her husband to mentor young athletes. She has also been deeply involved with Burns Saddlery, the oldest family-owned western retailer in the country, leading outside sales and driving brand growth with a focus on quality, innovation, and service. Wendy’s hands-on approach extends to programs supporting youth struggling with substance abuse, using equine-assisted learning to foster confidence, independence, and life skills.

Wendy’s dedication to the equine community goes beyond her professional work. She has been actively involved in the Central Utah Jr. Rodeo Association for nearly three decades, organizing events and giving back to young riders, and has served as a 4-H Horse Project Leader with the National 4-H Council, promoting education, competition, and community service. Through her combination of expertise, mentorship, and leadership, Wendy has become a respected figure in the western and equestrian world, leaving a lasting impact on both horses and the people she coaches.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong foundation in business from Utah State University, the mentorship of incredible leaders like 18-time world champion Larry D. Guy, and the opportunity to make a real impact on horses and riders every day. Building trust with horse owners, improving communication between horse and rider, and balancing hands-on work with running my practice have all been key to my growth and fulfillment.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to lead with faith and stay true to yourself. Success isn’t just about winning in the ring—it’s about being proud of who you are, the work you do, and showing up with integrity, hard work, and kindness every day.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is building confidence—believing in your voice and worth, especially as a woman in a male-dominated arena—but opportunities arise through proving your character, earning respect, and creating your own space through coaching and participation in major events.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity, staying grounded, and pursuing work that fosters personal growth and makes a meaningful difference.
