Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my drive and success to my parents, who both began their journeys as Marines. Their discipline, resilience, and unwavering work ethic instilled in me a deep sense of commitment and perseverance. They taught me the value of integrity, service, and pushing forward no matter the obstacle—principles that continue to guide me in my personal and professional life.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't apologize for being who I am.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THEY WANT TO ADMIT; OWN IT! Don't talk to yourself in a way you wouldn't let anyone else speak to you. Master the stories you tell yourself and base them on facts. Read or listen to Likable Badass by Alison Fragale, PhD.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field continues to be addressing gender and racial biases that can limit opportunities for women and minorities. Throughout my career, I’ve experienced these challenges firsthand, but they’ve also strengthened my resolve to lead with purpose and create space for others to thrive. I view these obstacles as opportunities—to break barriers, mentor future leaders, and help build a more inclusive and equitable professional environment. Occasionally called "The Hammer," because of my role in Regulated Enforcement, I take care to ensure that I don't treat *everyone and everything* like a nail.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In both my work and personal life, I value perseverance, balance, and a sense of humor. Training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has taught me resilience and humility, even when I’m the smallest and oldest on the mat—and a few injuries haven’t stopped me yet. I also enjoy mud runs, Mammoth Marches, and spending time in the kitchen baking and cooking to unwind. Most importantly, I cherish time with my family and friends and try not to put the "mother" in smother for my three children.
