Her Story
About Whitley
Whitley McBride is a senior at Fisk University on the pre-med track, majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology, with aspirations to become a pediatrician. She holds an internship with Meharry Medical College as a student health ambassador, where she conducts research on health disparities in the Nashville community for the Tennessee Wellness Project. Her current research focuses on how breast cancer affects family members dealing with the disease, including the lack of support groups and available resources. This interest stems from her family history, as her grandmother had breast cancer. McBride is an active member of Women in Pre-Med Incorporated, where she previously served as chapter representative for two years and will serve as Miss Women in Pre-Med Incorporated, focusing on female empowerment and mental wellness. She also serves as president of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students, having previously been vice president. McBride values family above all, aiming to make an impact for her little sisters, and emphasizes kindness, compassion, and being a trustworthy, inspiring physician for young women and girls.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family is what drives me the most, to make an impact for my little sisters and let them know that they can accomplish just as much as me and even more. Outside of family, being kind and compassionate, spreading love to everyone that I meet. When I become a physician, being a physician that people can trust and feel comfortable going to the doctor to see, and being an inspiration to other young women or girls growing up.
