Ten minutes with Whitnee
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to curiosity, self-awareness, and a commitment to lifelong learning. I continually seek to better understand myself, the world around me, and how my body changes over time. Learning to recognize and understand my own experiences has strengthened my self-acceptance and deepened my understanding of how physical and personal experiences can influence communication. I am comfortable sharing these insights when doing so can encourage greater understanding and empathy. My commitment to learning and growth continues to shape both my personal and professional life.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women is to give themselves grace and not be overly hard on themselves. Recognize the small wins as well as the big ones, and keep moving forward, even on difficult days. Things can get better.
I also encourage people to reframe everyday things and recognize the greater meaning behind them. For example, taking a loved one to lunch may seem like simply going out to eat, but I can choose to see it as giving her my time, creating a meaningful moment together, and making her feel loved. The way we choose to view our actions can help us recognize their value and the positive impact they can have on ourselves and others.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are curiosity, self-acceptance, empathy, lifelong learning, and personal growth. I believe in continually learning about myself and others while remaining open to new perspectives and experiences. I value communication as a way to foster greater understanding, encourage empathy, and help people build meaningful connections with one another.
