About Whitney
Whitney Blissett is a dedicated education professional with nearly a decade of experience supporting students, families, and academic communities through administrative leadership and student-centered service. She began her career in education working in attendance and office support roles within a local school district before advancing into higher education administration. Today, Whitney serves as Coordinator and Assistant to the Dean for the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Bay Path University, where she has spent the past four years helping support academic operations, faculty, and students. Alongside her professional work, she is continuing her education by pursuing a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology, exploring new ways to expand her impact in education and student advocacy.
Whitney is passionate about the behind-the-scenes work that keeps educational institutions thriving. She believes administrative professionals play a vital role in creating successful learning environments, alongside the essential operational support provided by school staff who keep campuses and buildings running each day. Her approach to education is rooted in service, accessibility, and advocacy, with a strong commitment to helping students and families feel supported. As a single mother of two sons who have navigated additional educational and medical support needs, Whitney brings personal understanding to her work with families. She is especially passionate about reducing stigma around resources such as IEPs and 504 plans, helping parents recognize that seeking additional support is a pathway toward student success rather than a limitation.
Driven by a desire to see Black and Brown students thrive, Whitney continues to advocate for equity, understanding, and opportunity within education. Her experiences working with families have strengthened her belief that education is a community effort and that every student deserves the tools, encouragement, and support needed to reach their potential. Whitney’s leadership philosophy centers on continuous learning, asking questions, understanding the experiences of students and educators, and building knowledge across every level of the educational system. Through her work at Bay Path University and her continued professional growth, she remains committed to creating spaces where students and families feel valued, empowered, and capable of achieving their goals.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my unwavering persistence in pursuing higher education while simultaneously balancing my family responsibilities, which has required immense dedication and resilience. Ultimately, my progress is fueled by a deep, genuine passion for serving students and families, ensuring they have the support and resources they need to thrive.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is to commit to learning both broadly and deeply, never hesitate to ask questions, and actively observe diverse classroom practices. By doing so, you can build a comprehensive professional toolkit that empowers you to effectively advocate for students and contribute meaningfully to overall school success.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The most pressing challenges in our field involve navigating the stigma surrounding IEP and 504 plan utilization among some families, addressing how housing and family instability impact student learning, and overcoming parental hesitancy to engage with available supports. However, these challenges present a powerful opportunity to leverage higher education roles to build foundational knowledge, allowing us to bridge vital resources back to secondary schools and the families who need them most.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The core values that guide both my professional work and personal life are advocacy, dedicated service, and fostering a strong sense of community. I am deeply committed to reducing the stigma surrounding special education supports and maintaining a profound respect for essential school operations and the hardworking staff who keep them running.
