About Whitney

Whitney Davis serves as the Director of Nursing at Lakeview Manor Nursing and Rehab in Morganza, Louisiana. In this role, which she has held for about a year, she oversees the nursing department, ensures quality patient care and safety, manages staffing and training, and collaborates with doctors, administrators, patients, and families. Her path to this position began with 10 years of service in public health in the military starting in 2007, after which she returned home in 2016 to complete her ASN through the Air Force's Community College of the Air Force at Maxwell Gunther Air Force Base. She built upon her prior Bachelor's in applied health from Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio by bridging to her RN and then earning her Master's of Science in Nursing focused on Administration and Management from Aston University in Aston, Colorado. Beyond her clinical leadership, Davis is set to make history as the first Black councilperson in her area following an unopposed election on November 3rd, where she will represent community residents and advocate for improved quality of life. She attributes her success to her family, faith, and supporters, and emphasizes values of integrity, empathy, accountability, compassion, and dedication in both her professional and personal life.

01What do you attribute your success to?

My family first, for sure. My faith. And everybody else who kind of supported and encouraged me throughout my career.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Always remember why you chose the profession. Treat every patient with compassion, respect, dignity, and never stop learning. Take care of yourself, speak up when something doesn't feel right, and don't be afraid to ask questions or seek help when you need it. Support your fellow nurses.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, empathy, accountability, compassion, and dedication.
