About Willa

Willa Fisher is an emerging event and theatrical production professional currently studying Directing and Theatrical Production at Sarah Lawrence College, with an expected graduation in 2028. She has developed hands-on experience in live event production through her work as Associate Producer for the Sarah Lawrence Music Festival, where she helps create themed music events for the student community. Her responsibilities include recruiting performers, supporting budgeting and resource discussions, coordinating event layouts, managing lighting and decorations, overseeing marketing efforts, and supervising event setup and breakdown.

In addition to her work at Sarah Lawrence College, Willa has gained experience across special events and entertainment production. As a Special Event Manager at Montecito Sequoia Lodge, she designs and coordinates large-scale dance and entertainment events, oversees more than 30 program staff members, manages sound and lighting setups, collaborates on food and beverage services, and writes and directs skits and dance performances. She also previously served as a Production Intern with Cutter Entertainment, where she supported preproduction research, set preparation, social media content, script organization, production meetings, spreadsheets, and company events. Her experience reflects a strong combination of creative direction, technical production, event management, and team leadership.

Willa is passionate about creating engaging environments that bring people together and leave lasting positive memories. She values clear communication, intentional language, collaboration, and asking questions as essential tools for professional growth. Inspired in part by her mother's experience in special events and entertainment, Willa has developed a thoughtful approach to production that balances creativity with organization and effective teamwork. Through her education and growing professional experience, she continues to build her expertise in event production, artistic direction, live entertainment, and creating meaningful experiences for audiences.

Ten minutes with Willa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to my mom. She is one of the best communicators I know, and her experience and guidance have taught me so much. She continues to be one of my greatest inspirations and favorite people in the world.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to start asking questions. It can be intimidating to step outside your comfort zone, especially when you doubt your abilities, but asking questions is how you learn, grow, and find opportunities to contribute. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance and ask how you can be helpful.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field is being able to do what I love while building meaningful connections. There are many opportunities to network, learn from others, and grow both personally and professionally.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Clear communication and intentional words are among the most important values to me. I believe you can’t accomplish much with others unless you truly understand one another, so I value listening, clarity, and thoughtful communication in both my work and personal life.
