Her Interview
Ten minutes with Wintana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith, which has become increasingly important to me throughout my career and life. I find that when I remain connected to my faith and mindful of the unique purpose I believe I was placed on this earth to fulfill, I am at my most successful and fulfilled. I also recognize that my natural ability to connect with others, along with my curiosity and desire to continually learn, has played a significant role in my growth. Together, these qualities have guided my decisions, strengthened my relationships, and helped me pursue meaningful opportunities with purpose and authenticity.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received has come from the mentors who have supported and guided me throughout my career. Ale Flores has been an important mentor since high school through a mentorship program, helping me develop foundational skills such as resume writing and interview preparation and continuing to support my growth in product management. I have also benefited greatly from mentors at Dell, who helped me understand and navigate the corporate environment. Their guidance has reinforced the importance of building relationships, seeking mentorship, and remaining open to learning throughout every stage of my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to explore your diverse interests and give yourself the freedom to discover what truly excites you. Take advantage of this stage in your career to try different paths, build new skills, and identify the areas where you can make the greatest impact. The best time to explore and find your niche is now, so be curious, embrace new opportunities, and allow your interests to guide your growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is adapting my communication style to effectively engage different stakeholder groups while balancing multiple professional perspectives across technology, business, social impact, and education. This is particularly important in product management, where success depends on collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders who may have different priorities, expectations, and ways of working. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity to strengthen my ability to communicate across disciplines, build alignment, and bring diverse perspectives together to drive meaningful outcomes.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are making a positive impact, lifelong learning, curiosity, and humility. I strive to leave every environment, relationship, and opportunity better than I found it by contributing in a meaningful way and making a positive difference wherever I am. I also believe in remaining curious and humble, because there is always more to learn, and approaching life with an open mind allows me to continue growing both personally and professionally.
