About Yamini
I am a financial analyst with about 5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. I currently work at Wells Fargo on a contract basis that started in June 2020. My day-to-day work involves conducting budgeting analysis every 3 weeks, where I review company P&L statements and create financial models in Excel. I develop dashboards for leadership and work closely with various teams, including engineering, to schedule meetings and ensure all data is accurate. My role requires me to analyze each statement in detail, not just by numbers, and provide outputs on what's happening in the company. I also work with Evolve models and am responsible for monitoring and guiding junior team members and new joiners, making sure they understand company standards and compliance requirements for US data. Before this role, I worked for 2 years in a similar financial analyst position, and prior to that I was with Cignity Technologies in India. I hold a Master's degree in Business Analytics with an accounting background from the University of North Texas in Denton, and I completed my Bachelor's degree in Finance from Acharya Institutions in Bangalore, India. My father, who comes from a different background, inspired me to pursue this path, and I've always been interested in accounting, analyzing company budgets, and reviewing financial statements like P&L and cash flow. I'm currently planning to pursue my CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license, which is the top licensing in the accounting and tax field, and I have mentors who are friends and roommates from my bachelor's and master's programs who have already obtained their CPA and are guiding me through the process.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think it's a great path, actually, because financing and accounting will give you an overview of everything you need to know if you want to start any business or your own company. You will know the standards, what rules you need to follow, how to file your taxes, how to follow the rules. It gives you an overview of when you start your company, how to start your company, and what kind of partners you need to make. If someone like a young woman wanted to start their own business or company, I would suggest everybody to learn from starting to ending about the financing, the accounting stuff, and the taxing stuff, so they will get to know about the rules in the US, what standards to follow, how to file their taxes, how to follow the rules and everything. So it's a great path. If you wanted to grow your career or if you wanted to be a leader for your own standards, you can always choose this path.
